THE PROJECT

We have been working with the Angel Hotel for many years, ever since the owners purchased it in 2001, and asked us to create its first brand identity.  Over the years the Angel has undergone a full refurbishment of both the bedrooms and the public rooms.  In 2005 they added a gym, which we branded as part of its opening marketing campaign.

When the Angel went through the final stage of development we were asked to come up with a new design and identity which reflects the new internal decor, and sets the Angel apart from its competitors. 

THE OBJECTIVES

• Create a logo which reflected the contemporary feel of the Angel
• Apply the logo style to a hotel wide branding
• Pick up the colour theme and decor of the Angel
• Provide a design platform for the Angel to use

THE SOLUTION

The design picked up on a contemporary motif and introduced curves and shapes into the design. It is sympathetic to the the colour schemes and fabrics used in the main sitting room and lounge areas.  The logo needed to integrate with the Best Western Hotel's very restrictive branding guidelines, while retaining the Angel's unique identity.

The main Angel graphic has a simplicity that reflects the contemporary nature of the Angel and can be used across the hotel.  The graphic is also used in furnishings and fittings.

THE RESULTS

The Angel now has an identity that is being applied across the hotel and is used in all forms of marketing and communications.  The identity has been very well received by the owners and customers alike.  The identity has a timeless quality about it because of its simplicity, and as the hotel decor changes the colour scheme can be changed without complete re-branding again.
